Georgia Southwestern had 11 of their soccer student-athletes receive Peach Belt Conference All-Academic honors.

Georgia Southwestern State University had 19 of its student-athletes recognized earlier this week by the NCAA Division II Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) for their academic excellence during the 2015-16 school year.

The following graduating seniors were honored within their major for outstanding academic performance at the 2016 Honors and Recognition Ceremony April 25.

Kelly Dekle, a math education major from Donalsonville, Ga., was selected as the 2015 Outstanding Scholar.

Future honor graduate Susanna Turner of Albany was recognized Friday, May 2 with Georgia Southwestern State University's highest academic honor. During the Graduation and Honors Convocation, Turner, a psychology major, was named GSW's 2014 Outstanding Scholar.

Made possible through the generous support of GSW President Emeritus William Capitan, Ph.D., and the late Dolores Capitan, the Dolores Capitan Writing Award celebrates writing. The 2014 winners were named at the publication reception for "Sirocco" on April 16 in the Marshall Student Center Faculty Dining Room. "Sirocco," Georgia Southwestern State University's Arts Magazine, is published in April of each year by students.
