Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) student Sabrina Hagler of Leesburg received the Excellence in English Award at GSW's 2022 Student Recognition Ceremony on April 21 in the Storm Dome.

Twenty students at Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) were officially inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) national honor society on Thursday, April 21. ALD is a national honor society recognizing first-year students who obtain a 3.5 or higher GPA during their first semester of their freshman year. ALD was founded in 1924 at the University of Illinois. The Georgia Southwestern chapter has been active on campus since 1976.

GSW student Tasmyn McCauley recently placed first in the college division in the Albany Museum of Art's 7th annual essay contest, "A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words." Tasmyn's essay, "Sharp Edges," was inspired by a 1657 oil on oak panel painting by Dutch artist Pieter Claesz titled "Still Life."

Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) has named twenty freshmen to the President Jimmy Carter Leadership Program, established to honor the legacy of GSW alumnus and former U.S. President Jimmy Carter. These students from Georgia, Alabama and Florida are the third group to enter the program since its creation in 2019.
